Perugina Dark Chocolate: Post-Coaching Snacking Chocolate

I have more chocolate gifts from swimmer parents to report on.

I get these all the time, I really do. Sometimes I think it’s preemptive. You know, like, “Hey so I told twelve Girl Scout Troops about our team and 26 kids want to come try synchro at practice this weekend – on and by the way, here’s some chocolate.”

It works. Most days. One particular day when it worked was when I was handed this Italian Perugina Dark Chocolate.

Opening the package in a mad rush after coaching a large group of young kids reveals a dominant vanilla aroma.

The vanilla wasn’t quite as evident in the flavor, which was hard to place. There was a hint of cream, a little vanilla, and a little coffee, carried by just the right amount of sugar to compliment the combination of flavors. The bar had a nice melt, and was not at all dry or waxy. It’s the kind of chocolate that you can snack on mindlessly, as it isn’t complex enough to demand your complete attention.

In other words, it’s perfect to eat after your mind is fried from coaching a, uh, enthusiastic group of kids in a loud pool area.

Do you have a favorite “snacking” chocolate? What is it?

  3. My favorite snacking chocolate? Definitely Green & Blacks. Probably the dark milk bar or the 70% dark or 85% dark... Actually, any Green & Blacks bar... :-)

  4. Mmm... no. I don't think of chocolate as a snack either... and I certainly cannot eat it mindlessly, I get that feeling that I've had too much quite fast. If there is something I can eat and eat, that would have to be grapes or watermelon.

This Perugina bar sounds interesting (mmm, dark chocolate + vanilla) and it's a bar I suspect I might be able to get my hands on :D

  6. Hey, I think I've seen that in Australia! Woot! My favourite go-to-not-too-expensive snacking chocolates are lindt 85% and lindt chilli excellence, because they're always available at the supermarket across the road :)

  8. @thehealthyapron It's probably better to not think of it as a snack. I also love chocolate and peanut butter together.

  9. @Jessica I also like Green&Blacks - though oddly, I don't like their milk chocolate bar that much. I think it's the milk they use.

  12. @Hannah There is definitely something to be said for ready access to your desired chocolate.

  13. @Beaglebea Good call - can't really think of anything much better from a standard supermarket (except perhaps the Vosges stocked at Whole Foods).

  15. @Olga @ MangoTomato Definitely dark chocolate for baking. I think milk has its place with other flavors. Especially lemon :).

I have a piece of adware on my computer that I obviously wish to get rid of (it slows down my computer... -.-). Avira Free Version is a perfectly fine antivirus program, but apparently it does not have this (insert obscene adjective here) adware on its detection list. I looked into this adware a bit more and found that AVG should have it on its detection list, which would mean a :D for me and a :( for the adware... elimation of the adware in other words. There are several problems with this idea, though. 1. I am not sure about this, but I believe I read somewhere that having multiple AVs (AntiVirus) may cause confliction between programs... is this true? (read titular question for the specifics) 2. Supposing that the above question were answered with a "Yes", I would have to remove Avira. I have also read that this action is difficult to fully complete... is this true and if so, how would I go about screwing the adware (FYI it is called WhenU SaveNow, and it is despicable in my personal opinion)? 3. Should someone else incidentally have this (virus? adware? program?)... thing... and have successfully removed it, could you answer back with your solution? Notes about the *censor*ing software... I am aware that you (ahem) should (ahem) be able to remove the "thing" (I refuse to name it except in an above example) in Windows' Add/Remove Programs panel. It is not a part of the list of removable items, so I assume it must have latched onto a download (silly brother >:O). Because my computer is second-hand, it has a variety of rather shifty programs (in my paranoid opinion). Flock I think is decent, Limewire... not so decent, my idiot brother's downloads off Limewire... VERY untrustworthy. However, the adware might have been present before that bozo downloaded Limewire, so I can't fix the blame on Limewire. Also, this adware updates itself and seems to "read" the content on the web pages I browse and display related content... fortunately, it does not understand Mandarin. The adware PHAILS (phails, fails, same thing) in that it displays its unconvincingly poor "Click me" (the "click me" idea is displayed in many ways...) ideas in Internet Explorer while I browse in Mozilla Firefox -.- Any solution would be welcome.
